Living to glorify my God.

prayer.

My parents love to brag about me (don’t all parents?). Recently, my dad was talking to my babysitter from when I was a little tiny Hannah, and was telling him of the great things I have been involved in lately. Talking about my success with work, the joy of our marriage, and the accomplishments that have been my past few years. Dorothy simply said, “Steve, I’m not surprised. I prayed over her every time I changed her diaper that she would do something great for God.”

I had nothing to say. I was completely speechless. What a beautiful example that Dorothy is to me. Do I have such confidence in God and my prayer life that I could look at something beautiful and say “I’m not surprised that happened, I prayed about it”. Do I approach God’s throne with that confidence? He asks me to! James 1.

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Or even in Matthew 21

21Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Do you pray like that?

Also, what an overwhelming thought- all of the people who have prayed over me and prayed for me. What a beautiful life God has blessed me with.
